Kota, a native to Japan, had always dreamed of living abroad after spending 3 years in South Africa with his family when he was a young child. Even though he learned English during those few years, it was soon forgotten and never used again. But, in May 2019 his dream came true when he was given the opportunity to move to Australia for work with Fujitsu General.
From his first day at his job with Fujitsu General in Sydney, Kota was given the opportunity to improve his English skills and take on lessons with ESL Tutoring Services. It was vital for Kota to improve his English to enable him to have greater confidence with his communication and contribution across the Sales Planning Team and wider Fujitsu General business. He wanted to improve all aspects of his English language skills so that he could be an active participant in meetings, write professional emails and engage with clients confidently. Kota’s biggest achievement to date (since he commenced his English lessons with ESL Tutoring) has been to personally connect with and develop a new business opportunity with a new client, something that he would not have had the confidence to do when he first arrived in Australia.
By becoming involved in private English tutoring, Kota has been able to achieve his personal career goals. He continues to benefit from the personalised lessons and individualised curriculum delivered by his highly experienced tutor, Georgina.
Kota has enjoyed settling into life in Australia. He has found the transition relatively easy as he was eager to do the “normal” Aussie activities, like enjoying a flat white, reading a local Sydney newspaper and visiting Bondi Beach for a surf and fish and chips when the weather is good. Improving his English has enhanced his life in Sydney, both professionally and personally.
